Description |
CHUR201 must be studied before taking this course and, if possible, CHUR202 as well. CHUR203 will take as its starting point the vision of the church set out in CHUR201 and 202. It will then deal with the area of leadership: how to guide, protect, enable and coordinate the members of the body in their various ministries. This must be done in a spirit of humility, with the goal that each one should fulfill God's calling to him/her.
The following topics will be covered:
Leadership: gifts of leadership, pastoring and teaching. Diverse styles of government-avoiding the trap of authoritarian leadership.
Elders and deacons - qualifications and responsibilities
Leading worship
Resolving conflicts
Church discipline
Administration and finances (giving, tithing, managing church assets).
The problem of divisions. Relationships with other churches.
Relationships between men and women: wisdom in ministry relationships, differing roles within the church.
The pastoral calling, what it is and how to encourage it (The pastor and his motives). |
