Description |
Following on from CHUR201 on the life of the church, this course will cover a range of activities and ministries in the church, with the exception of teaching, which will be dealt with in CHUR204 and 205.
The following topics will be covered:
God's calling to a ministry.
The gifts with which the Holy Spirit equips the believer; how to recognize one's gifts.
Charismatic gifts: understand the role of these gifts (tongues, prophecy, healing etc.) and appreciate the arguments for and against their continued use today. Uphold the finality of scriptural authority in the evaluation of all prophetic teaching.
Understand that there is no hierarchy or superiority on the basis of the possession or use of certain gifts.
Worship, leading worship, music and communal prayer.
Mutual encouragement and counseling.
Social responsibilities: widows and orphans.
Evangelism and church planting.
Mission: Communicating cross-culturally. |
