Description The goal of the course is to enable the student to see the link between his/her local church and the unfolding history of the Universal Church. The growth of the Church from the early Church to the present. The Church as a persecuted minority group in society. The sufferings of the Church. Understand how the Church expanded through witnessing for Jesus Christ and be motivated to participate in that witness. The missionary movement and the part it has played in establishing the Church world-wide. Realize that the Church is not just for the Western World. Know that we are part of the Universal Church. Explain the difference between Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical churches. Know the origins and distinctions of the denominations (especially the Reform and the Pentecostal movement). Be able to explain the difference between the political powers and the Church (Crusades, etc.)
